Prologue
As they stepped up to the dock it made a hissing noise.
"It's OK kids," the four siblings' uncle reassured them. All of the four siblings were going on a boat trip for two weeks. This was set up to calm a nasty war that they had been in for one month between all four of them. It had gotten so bad that they had to send the kids to four different homes, and they still would call each other and disrupt the calmness of the temporary home. Now after one week of separation the kids were brought together for a soothing boat ride for two weeks. Their uncle was there to keep peace through the whole thing and keep it moving.
Chris was the youngest in the family, making it the toughest. Chris will tell you a little about himself now. "Hi, I'm Chris. I'm 9 years old. Being the youngest kid in the family is tough, but there are other advantages, too. I was born in New York, but then we moved to Iowa. I know, the complete opposite. My parents said it would work out better. So far they've been wrong. The only thing we've done since the big move is fight. No friends. Small town. Boring life. My favorite food in New York was Mac and Cheese. Now I "like" bacon and steak the most. I mean how couldn't I? We have it every morning, afternoon, and night. I am afraid of horses and do not like pigs. Everything is unfair. No wonder that me, my brother, and my 2 sisters can't get along. That reminds me; I almost forgot about the fights. I never start the fights. Cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle through my eye. But like all younger siblings go through, I always get blamed. 'You did this' and 'you did that' is all I ever hear. After they tell our parents that I was the source of the fight, I completely flip out...and then I deserve to get yelled at. I really don't care though. It is so normal to get yelled at in my family, that it doesn't bother me any more. It was nice talking to you, but my mom is calling me for dinner. Bye, gotta go!" Now you see how sorry I felt for Chris through all of this. It was really unfair for all of the siblings.
It was Shelly who started all of the fights. That is why I don't have a lot of compassion for her. Her brothers and sister don't either. Since I let Chris talk though, I guess she'll talk to you, too. Good luck! "Hi, my name is Shelly and I have a horrible life. I'm 10 years old and my brothers and sisters hate me. Since Mackenzie (the author) already let my brother (the worst thing that's ever happened to me) talk, you probably already know that I moved from New York. It is horrible here. And to make it worse my siblings keep annoying me, then we get in a fight, then my parents tell me to control my hormones. I don't think that is fair since that's not my fault. My teacher at school told us that. I told my mom and she said that it's OK, but I shouldn't put my anger upon other people, my siblings. I took that advice in and decided that my siblings did deserve to get yelled at. My favorite food is now homemade pie (I usually steal it). I love riding horses and herding cows. I guess my life here is pretty good actually (don't believe her, she's lying. She hates it here). I can even get out of the fights because I have a way with lying. This was all good until everything was destroyed when we got temporarily moved into a different house with a different family. I never got away with lies there. I learned a lot from living in that home. Through all of this I will never be as close to my brothers and sister as I was in New York. Well my food's going to get cold and my family is finishing up dinner now. It was nice having someone who listened to me for once. Bye." Shelly had a lot to say, and she made it sound true. Don't believe her though. She never learned anything from the temporary home.
You've learned about the youngest boy, and the bratty girl in the family, but you haven't learned about the double-sided brother. His name is Bradly. Bradly goes by Brad. He tells his siblings about what his parents say about them, but he also tells their parents what the other kids say about them. It looks like they're all done with dinner and already fighting. Let me go and get him. "Hi. I'm Brad. My fam's in a big war. They would probably call me a heck of a spy. But they don't know that I am always spying for both sides, and never keeping their secrets! Well enough with that talk. Why don't I get down to the fun things? I am 12 years old and l love the country side. The only bad thing about Iowa is that we are always fighting. Sometimes I sneak out during the night to get away from the fighting and go ride horses. The fighting is worse at night because we share the same bedroom. Plus our parents aren't there to stop us. My favorite horse's name is Bradly, just like me. My favorite food is hamburgers. We have them a lot because my family raises cows and pigs. We sell their meat in bacon and hamburgers. I love my life here. When I moved into the temporary home my siblings stopped bothering me because I wasn't involved in the fights. I called my parents every hour on the first day and after only 4 hours they let me come home. Me and my siblings were still separated, but I didn't have to move to a different home. I got all of the attention and my parents saw that my siblings didn't call me to fight over the phone. I think they found out that I was not part of the fighting. I am so sorry that I keep talking about the fight. Our home just got power yesterday from a bad ice storm. The lines are up, but we just lost power again. Gotta help Dad light candles. Bye!!!" Brad is a sweet kid for the age of 12. I think I would have killed my siblings, or ran away to live in an orphanage!
The last kid that lives in the chaotic home is Cathy. Cathy is out on a date with her boyfriend right now. I guess I'll just tell you about her on my own. Cathy is 14 years old. She was involved in the fight until she got a new boyfriend to occupy her time. Her favorite food is steak and apples. She loves to play on her phone in her room. I think she likes to go swimming in the lake. You can find her riding a snow white horse with a gray main and tail. She loves to color and draw. She goes to her friends' houses almost everyday to get away from the fighting. It may sound like she's not part of the fight, but really she gets in the other siblings' business and joins the fight.
